COLLECTING CITRUS JUICERS

In the year 2000, I started collecting original paintings. My main source for these bargains where OP shops (thrift shops), garage sale (yard sales/boot sales), second hand shops (used goods shops) and antique shops. Anywhere a bargain could be found. While doing this I noticed a clear glass Crown Crystal (Australia) citrus juicer in an antique shop in Morphet, NSW (Australia) and it was selling for AU$29.00. An extraordinarily high price (for that time) for a clear class juicer that was similar to the one I used while growing up. What's more, I knew that OP shops sold these juicers for prices between AU$0.50 and AU$5.00. (Update: I know in 2009 that reasonably priced antique shops sell these juicers for prices between AU$15.00 and AU$25.00 in perfect condition.)

 

I was hooked!!!!!

  

WHY COLLECT JUICERS

·      The juicers I collect are any form of non-electrically powered device that can be used to juice citrus fruit.

·      These juicers are described as juicers, squeezers and reamers.

·      I restricted myself to this area because the range of items, while most extensive, is limited (or so I thought).

·      There is something for every one and every budget. I started off where I refused to buy anything made from modern plastic. I changed this when I went through a spell where I was finding very little material in my budget range. The plastic juicers range in price from AU$0.99 and upwards.

·      I collect the modern juicers to broaden my collection and because they will also be hard to find one day. Over half of my collection was manufactured during my childhood. The modern juicers are and/or are already collectable.

·      Some of the early juicers are amazing items to behold. The aesthetics are quite remarkable.

·      Some of the new juicers are also works of art. They are the collectables of the future. 

·      I like to study the juicers, a very common household item. This is because of the fact that things that are the same are different and things that are different are the same.

·      I am trying to set up my Web page as an information guide on juicers, that is, mainly juicers available in Australia. I do, however, source my collection from Australian and overseas sellers.

·      I am currently compiling a study on Crown Crystal Class Co. Ltd. (Australia) and recording the findings as an information guide on these juicers. I will also study other juicers made in Australia.

 

  

MY COLLECTION
  You can view my collection in two different ways.
1. The first lists most of my collection. There are two types of juicers listed, and each listing indicates whether they are 'old' or 'new' juicers. The old juicers may be described as old, or second hand, or used, or  antique, or vintage, etc. The 'new' juicers may be described as new or unused. they were purchased by me from retail outlets. They may have modern barcodes.

A range of studies on various aspects of citrus juicers.
